Choosing a credit card.

Look at the whole card, not just its headline features.

Fit with your spending

Consider whether categories, rewards and limits match how you actually use a card. Review exclusions and redemption conditions.

Fees and interest

Read the issuer's schedule of charges, including annual fees, late fees, cash advance costs and interest on unpaid balances.

Responsible use

Paying on time and in full where possible helps avoid carrying expensive balances. A minimum payment can still leave interest accruing.
